In 2012, we were pleased to launch a new series that was the result of a challenging commission from the Royal Academy, to produce a range of artistic glass to mark the important Hockney exhibition, ‘The Bigger Picture’, at the Royal Academy. Peter, who has known David Hockney since they grew up in Bradford, was delighted to have been asked to create a series of works based on some of his latest paintings. These highlight Layton’s talent for translating rich painterly qualities and bold colours into hot glass. Each piece is unique and signed by Peter Layton.
This particular piece visited the studios of BBC Radio 4 in February 2015, where Peter Layton discussed the history of the studio glass movement and running his own studio. The 'Queen of Shops' Mary Portas was a fellow guest on the show, and was a huge fan of this piece!
